Pengertian, Rumus, Fungsi, dan Contoh Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Future perfect continuous tense, atau dikenal juga sebagai future perfect progressive tense, adalah salah satu dari tenses dalam bahasa Inggris yang bisa dikatakan jarang digunakan. Hal ini karena tense ini merujuk pada masa depan dan mengungkapkan segala kejadian yang akan sudah berlangsung selama sekian lama pada titik waktu tertentu di masa depan. Berikut akan dipaparkan pengertian, rumus, fungsi, dan contoh future perfect continuous tense.

Pengertian Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Future perfect continuous tense adalah bentuk tense yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian yang akan sudah berlangsung selama waktu tertentu pada suatu titik di masa depan (future perfect continuous). Sehingga apapun yang akan sudah kita lakukan selama durasi tertentu di masa depan dapat diungkapkan dengan tense ini. Demikian pula dengan keadaan atau kondisi kita, seperti:

I will have been waiting here for three hours by six o’clock.
By 2001, I will have been living in London for sixteen years.
When I finish this course, I will have been learning English for twenty years.

Rumus Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Future perfect continuous tense memiliki dua rumus. Yang pertama disebut verbal dan dipakai ketika terdapat verb (kata kerja), sementara yang kedua disebut nominal dan digunakan tatkala tidak terdapat verb. Sebagai gantinya, be (been) perlu ditambahkan di rumus kedua ini.

Secara garis besar, fungsi future perfect continuous tense dalam bahasa Inggris adalah sebagai:

  1. Untuk menyatakan kejadian yang akan sudah berlangsung selama durasi tertentu di masa depan

    Contoh:

    He will have been studying in Cairo for a year by the end of next month.
    (Dia akan telah belajar di Kairo selama setahun pada akhir bulan depan.)
  2. Untuk menyatakan kejadian yang saat ini belum selesai, tetapi akan selesai di masa depan

    Contoh:

    Next year I will have been working here for four years.
    (Tahun depan, aku akan sudah bekerja di sini selama empat tahun.)
